SPECIAL REPORT
In Taiwan, festival events often come with fireworks displays, which have become part of our cultural memory. Festivals, weddings, and temple activities can hardly do without them. Above all, during the spring break, the amount of fireworks usage often occupies more than half for that year. Although there are a variety of fireworks, each has its own potential risk.
Judged by the purposes, where fireworks are set off can be divided into three categories: (1) personal use (2) races (3) massive events. Regardless of which kind, accidents could happen. Professional fireworks at massive events, albeit magnificent and highly entertaining, can pose a risk more serious than the other ones, because they are larger and contain more black powder. If taken lightly, they are likely to cause dramtic disasters and injury.
