Article 3 of the Regulations for Emergency Medical Services defines
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as on-scene medical care for
sick or injured persons, or patients in mass casualty incidents, as well

the following: Anyone who is in urgent need of medical care due to
disaster or contingency, anyone who falls down on the road due to
injury or sickness, any pregnant woman who is ready for childbirth,
and those with other injuries or medical conditions. From a longitudinal
perspective, local demand for EMS provided by fire departments has
increased over the last decade (2013 to 2022). An analysis of statistics
on rescue operations reveals that there were 1,016,637 trips made
by ambulances in 2013; in 2022, the number increased to 1,307,594,
an increase of 28.62%. In 2013, 826,839 patients were transported
to hospitals for emergency reasons; in 2022, the number increased
to 1,034,184, an increase of 25.08%. This article will carry out a
contrastive analysis of statistical data on EMS services provided by
NFA and its agencies in 2022. The findings shall provide a reference
for the development and planning of future NFA EMS policies.
