On the battlefield, hindrances in communication due to hardware or
other issues can result in impaired coordination and responses. Even
the best commanders and most elite troops could suffer setbacks if
information was not communicated in a timely manner. Similarly, in
disaster response work, every second counts. Our team has found that
the communication methods currently employed in disaster relief can
be further improved upon, and that creating heightened stability and
reliability in on-site communication can lead to better efficiency in
future operations. The article offers a brief description of the current
communication methods and practical suggestions for improvement.
