The drill aimed at verifying the feasibility of the firefighting and disaster relief plan for a massive
earthquake disaster of Magnitude 6.6 in Shanchiao fault zone simulated by National Fire Agency.
By mobilizing the disaster relief forces of fire departments in municipalities, cities, and counties
islandwide, as well as the Ministry of National Defense, and providing supports through land and air
transportation via NFA’s mobilization routes.Therefore, the authorities would be able to effectively

check whether local governments’ resource preparation and dispatch mechanisms are adequate.
Additionally, the model of mobilization and assembly, disaster relief bases, and the allocation
of supporting forces in the disaster areas illustrated in the plan could also be examined. In the

future, NFA will cooperate with the Ministry of Science and Technology to carry out simulations
on the seismic focus of massive earthquakes and damage estimation in central, southern, and
eastern Taiwan, and then develop corresponding firefighting and disaster relief plan for massive
earthquakes. Furthermore, exercises will be conducted in order to verify the plan and strengthen
the massive earthquake response.By doing so, we could provide the support of disaster relief

quickly for the sake of safeguarding people’s lives and properties.
