The 2012 policy objective of National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior was to
improve the ability to rescue the victims in a compound disaster by making the general

public aware of disaster prevention, holding various kinds of disaster prevention &
rescue drills, upgrading the communication system for disaster rescue, introducing
household fire prevention procedure, taking full control of hazardous materials,

improving the skills for examining fire causes and upgrading the abilities and quality of
emergency rescue.
Therefore, based on the guidelines of policy objectives for Executive Yuan and its
affiliated institutes, National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior, in order to maintain
public safety, strengthen the abilities of disaster prevention and rescue for fire agencies

of different levels, builds up an evaluation mechanism to evaluate the performance of
fire bureaus of different county/city governments to make them more efficient.
