When fire-related accidents occur in operating rooms, where the operation, one of the high-
risk treatments, is in progress, which fire extinguishing appliance would be the best option for the
patient receiving anesthesia and medical personnel, whose vision and breath has been affected by
smoke? And what fire extinguishing appliance for them to choose from? In Taiwan, the fire service
regulations have loose restrictions on sites like this, where the installation of sprinkler head is
not necessary. However, the regulations never suggest definite alternatives, leaving the sites like
operating rooms in the hospital unattended and unprotected, and this has resulted in threats to fire
            safety.
