                                           The petrochemical industry is an integral part of our daily life, for it not
                                           only enables us to lead a comfortable life but is also an important driving
                                           force behind economic and technological progress. Goods and services
                                           that we use day-to-day, such as apparel, shoes, mobile phones, means of
                                           transportation, and various high-tech products would all not be available
                                           had it not been for the petrochemical industry.
                                           A closer examination of the operations of petrochemical plants reveals
                                           that they include many continuous processes involving high temperatures
                                           and pressures. The key concern of all petrochemical enterprises, besides
                                           the smooth production of high-quality products, is to ensure that safety
                                           is upheld in their production and operation processes. Being the largest
                                           petrochemical industrial park in Taiwan, Mailiao Refinery takes safety
                                           extremely seriously. In order to minimize potential hazards and sudden
                                           abnormalities from occurring in the park, Mailiao Refinery not only
                                           enforces Taiwan's national regulations but also constantly steps up efforts
                                           to ensure higher standards of fire safety and disaster rescue. These efforts
                                           include staying up-to-date with international standards, learning from the
                                           positive practices implemented at petrochemical plants around the world,
                                           accepting suggestions from local and international experts and scholars,
                                           training professional firefighting personnel, organizing disaster rescue joint
                                    圖      exercises, and procuring fire trucks of all types, fire safety equipment, and
                                           other disaster rescue equipment. These measures have been put in place to
