                             Adapting NFPA 1500 to Local Needs

                                         In recent years, the firefighting force has suffered multiple casualties
                                         in the process of carrying out operations such as disaster response,
                                         rescue missions, and training sessions. Some of these incidents
                      化 土 本              include six deaths in the 2017 fire incident at a bowling Alley in
                                         Xinwu District, Taoyuan City, six deaths and six injured personnel in
                   NFPA1500
                                         the 2018 fire incident at the Chin Poon PCB plant in Taoyuan City,
                                         two deaths in the 2019 fire incident at a factory in Taichung's Daya
                                         District, one death and four injured personnel in the 2020 traffic
                                         accident involving a fire truck from the Fengxiang Branch of the
                                         Kaohsiung City Fire Department dispatched to the scene of a fire,
                                         one death and two injured personnel in the 2021 fire incident at the
                                         Chiaoyou Building in Changhua City, and one death by drowning
                                         in a 2021 training accident. These incidents have raised the public's
                                         awareness on the matter of firefighter safety. In addition, scenes
                                         of disasters and rescue operations are packed with uncertainty,
                                         and firefighters are at the frontline of major accidents with high
                                         casualty tolls, such as the 2018 TRA Puyuma train derailment and
                                         the 2021 Taroko Express train derailment. Consequently, firefighters
                                         are at a high risk of developing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
                                         (PTSD), which could lead to severe threats to the patients' physical
                                         and mental well-being. In the course of discharging their duties,

                                         which translates to huge mental stress and risks for them in both the
                                Raising Standards for the Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellness Program:
