The patriarch of the firefighters' family, Hsiao, Huan-Chang took office as Director-General of the National
Fire Agency on August 5, 2021. As former Director of the Fire Department of Taichung City Government and
Deputy Director-General of the National Fire Agency, he attaches great importance to issues such as firefighting
manpower, duties, safety, vehicles and equipment, as well as caring about the voices and needs of firefighters.
We feel greatly honored to interview Director-General Hsiao and present the major policies that he
will promote after taking office with detailed Q&As. His abundant experience and thoughts through the
firefighting career show the path to the future vision of the National Fire Agency and fire departments which
will lead us to move forward together. As Director-General Hsiao says, "Find your original intention, reshine
it, and keep going with determination.”
