I. Preface:
On June 27, 2015, in the Formosa Fun Coast water park in Pali District, New Taipei City,
the color powder made by corn starch and food coloring had been used in the event “Color Play
Asia – Color Party”, held by “Color Play Creative International Co., Ltd.” and “Ruibo International
Integrated Marketing Co., Ltd.” It triggered the dust explosion and fire accident, resulting in a total
of 15 deaths and 484 injuries. This disaster also became the world’s first case of dust explosion
occurred in the color powder activities.
Historical cases can be alerts to us and have a certain reference value. Unfortunately, what
people have done is mourn for the casualties and immerse in the sorrow only. But They neglected or
even ignored the painful experience behind the historical cases. Lack of simulation and experience
makes people merely have simple imagination on disasters in the past and the number of casualties
will probably still remain high if similar disasters occur in the future. Therefore, people should enhance
their knowledge of fire safety, internalize it, and make it an instinct. Taking those previous cases as
references, we should deliberate upon what actions to take if we were on the same disaster site, and
find the best solutions and precautions, in order to effectively protect our own safety.
