                 In recent years, electronic technology has developed rapidly, and the thin and
            light rechargeable lithium battery and lithium polymer battery without memory
            function has been extensively applied in various electronics. Consequently, incidents
            resulted from the lithium battery in notebook computers or mobile phones are often
            heard around the world in recent years, for example, series of Samsung Note 7
            lithium battery fires and  explosions  soon  after the  new  product launch in 2016.  For
            the sake of safety, the lithium batteries can only be hand-carry instead of checked-in
            luggage when boarding the plane, to avoid the potential mass casualty resulted from
            lithium battery fire in cargo compartment. To effectively prevent and respond to the
            problems caused by lithium battery, its principle and application in electronics will
            be introduced in this article, in hopes of enhancing the fire investigation techniques
            and strengthening the precaution actions by reviewing lithium battery fire cases
            worldwide.
