A saying goes ¨Accidents will happen.© So far as Taiwan's natural environment

is concerned, it is situated between Eurasian Plate and Philippines Sea Plate. Due
to diastrophism and well-developed orogeny, Taiwan has such diverse and complex
topographies as mountains, hills, basins, plains and tablelands. Plate convergence puts
Taiwan on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic
eruptions occur. So, Taiwan has few volcanoes and earthquakes happen often in

Taiwan. Averagely, more than one hundred felt earthquakes happen in Taiwan per year.

Facing unpredictable natural disasters, National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior
tries its best to promote disaster prevention awareness and hold rescue drills in order
to upgrade different ministries§/councils§ reaction and handling of the disaster,
being familiar to dispatch personnel and supplies commodity and to communicate and

evacuate the public. The simulation rehearsal covered every aspect and can be called
a comprehensive and well-done one.
