消防工作包括救災與救護。無論是事前的預防，或是現場的災害救援，都需要政府與民眾齊 心努力，共同守護您我的家園安居，構築安全與安心的生活。特別是當今的人們生活在資訊科技 發展日新月異，以及高度仰賴通訊傳播的新世代，公共事務更仰賴民間團體力量的積極投入，才 能形成更加堅實完備的互助網絡與後援力量，以提升消防整體能量，因應瞬息多變的各種災害。
人類因為互助與共好，所以可以成就更多美好與幸福;進而再讓更多資源與溫暖，傳遞到社 會各個角落，分享給更多需要的人。特別是志願服務工作的發心與願力，不僅是人類進步的原動 力，更是世界持續正向前進推展的動力。為了感謝世界各地志工的愛與付出，自 1985 年 12 月起， 聯合國正式訂定每年的 12 月 5 日為「國際志工日」(International Volunteer Day)，希望各國 政府共襄盛舉，表揚肯定志工們的無私大愛與偉大貢獻。
Firefighting involves disaster relief and rescue. Either job requires the joint effort by the government and ordinary people to protect our home and build a safer environment. As our information technology is developing rapidly, and more and more people rely on it to communicate, it is all the more important to have non-governmental effort to join in so as to build a stronger support network. This will boost the overall firefighting effort in the face of different disasters.
